Octavious Bishop’s unique career path began as a successful college football player for the Texas Longhorns from 1994-1998. He would also have the honor of playing for the Atlanta Falcons, Amsterdam Admiral (NFL Europe), Oakland Raiders, and Chicago Enforcers (XFL). After a successful athletic career, Octavious returned to UT-Austin to earn his MSSW and eventually his Ph.D. in Psychology in 2018.
Since 2011, Dr. Bishop has taught at the college level. His forward thinking in the area of human behavior has surfaced in community engagement, mental health, and serving on boards for multiple non-profit organizations. He shares his heart and mind with those in need by speaking in prisons, galas, and faith-based organizations, and he continues to be a strong advocate for improving access to guidance and mental health services for college students. Serving as full-time faculty and on multiple committees in the Steve Hicks School of Social Work, Dr. Bishop strives to support the needs of students and gets fulfillment in mentoring students and collaborating with colleagues.
Octavious is also the Founder and President of Eye Level Consulting (ELC), which was founded on three principles: Mentorship, Leadership, and Inclusivity – The power of the locker room experience. With ELC, Octavious has given countless motivational speeches and been the keynote speaker at many events for numerous student-athletes. He has also presented at the National Ambulance Conference for the Solutions Groups and at the University of West Florida Athletics Department.
